Introduction to Ruth

Coming up next, we will spend just one day in the book of Ruth.

You may be familiar with the story of Ruth, a widowed Moabite woman who faithfully and selflessly cared for her mother-in-law while accompanying her to a foreign land and choosing to follow a God who was foreign to her. There is so much to learn from her life as Ruth was known as a woman of noble character and was one of only five women mentioned by name in the lineage of Christ.

The story of Ruth also tells of a kinsman redeemer named Boaz who redeems Ruth by choosing to take her as his wife. This is a great picture to us of our kinsman redeemer, Jesus Christ. Just as Ruth truly had nothing to offer Boaz, we also have nothing to offer Christ. And yet, in his selfless, sacrificial love, He chose to redeem us, save us, and call us His own. What a reason to be eternally thankful to our Lord!

We encourage you to read the story of Ruth while we spend a day asking God to make us people of noble character and praising Him for sending Jesus, our kinsman redeemer.
