Introduction to 1st John

LOVE- A word we hear on a regular basis. But in hearing it and speaking it, do we ever recognize that we are only able to love others because God first loved us? Is our point of reference for the term love based on the fact that God IS love?

Beginning Monday, August 3rd, we will spend seventeen days in the book of 1 John, in which the word love is mentioned fifty-one times. Our prayers will focus on two main themes: loving God and others and fellowship with God the Father through belief in His Son, Jesus Christ.

-Are you loving others in words only, or in actions and truth?
-Would you be willing to lay down your life for someone as Jesus laid down His life for you, defining true love in action?
-Do you know someone who is walking in darkness because of a heart that harbors hatred towards another?
-Are you showing your love for God by obeying His commands?
-Do you know of anyone who struggles to believe that Jesus is who scripture says He is — our atoning sacrifice, the Savior of the world, the Son of God, and the One in whom eternal life is found?
-Do you need to be reminded to confess your sins to God, knowing that He is faithful and just to forgive you and purify you from all unrighteousness?

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God. That if we ask
anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know
that He hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of Him.”
1 John 5:14-15

We believe that asking God for the things written above do fall in line with His will. Join us in going before the Lord with confidence while lifting others and ourselves up through prayers from 1 John.

We encourage you to SHARE our daily prayers with others and INVITE someone to pray with you!
