Introduction to Nehemiah

Up next, we will spend five days praying through the book of Nehemiah. Whereas Ezra tells of the rebuilding of the temple, Nehemiah is the story of the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem. Nehemiah also tells of the Israelite’s spiritual revival filled with the hearing of God’s Word, repentance, and a renewing of their covenant to God.

As we pray through Nehemiah, over and over we see glimpses into the character of our God:

-He alone is the Lord

-He is the Creator of all things

-He is gracious and merciful

-He keeps His covenants

-He is faithful and just

-He is from everlasting to everlasting

As a response to these attributes of God, our prayer will be for a newfound reverence for Him – that we might respond as the Israelites did by choosing to hear God’s Word, repent of sin, and worship the Lord our God as we renew our commitment to Him.
