Introduction to Proverbs

Coming up next, we will spend 11 weeks praying through the entire book of Proverbs. King Solomon, who is often referred to as ‘the wisest man who ever lived’ wrote the book of Proverbs. Although sadly, the lures of the world drew Solomon’s heart away from God later in life, the book of Proverbs is filled with wisdom and insight that pertains to almost every area of life we will encounter during our lifetime.

Our prayer time will cover topics such as: gaining wisdom and discernment, having a walk that is upright and blameless, controlling the tongue, being a generous and cheerful giver, keeping a pure heart, being a godly husband or wife, and so much more!

Proverbs begins by saying:

“For attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight; for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young – let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance. (1:2-5)

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”(1:7)

May we be willing to do what Proverbs 1 says and fear the Lord, listen, and add to our learning so that we may live disciplined and prudent lives, and do what is right and just and fair! Join us on an incredible journey through Proverbs, and ask someone to join you!
