Scriptures on Prayer

1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the Lord and His strength; seek His face always.

James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

Colossians 4:2
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.

Proverbs 15:29
The Lord is far from the wicked but He hears the prayer of the righteous.

Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Psalm 145:18
The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in EVERYTHING, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
Pray continually;

2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

James 5:13-15
Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

Romans 8:26
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.  

Ephesians 6:18
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Romans 8:34b
Christ Jesus, who died-more than that, who was raised to life- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 

1st Timothy 2:8
I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

Matthew 7:7  
Ask, and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened to you.

1 John 5:14-15
And this is the confidence we have in approaching God; that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of Him.

Matthew 6:9-13
Pray then like this: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

1 Peter 3:12
For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. 

Psalm 5:2-3
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.  In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.

Psalm 66:18-20
If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer.  Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!
