Coming up next, we will spend a quick three days in the book of Judges.

Right after Joshua commanded the Israelites to hold fast to the Lord and obey His commands, the Israelites settled in the Promised Land and did just the opposite. They forsook the Lord their God by serving other gods, and they turned from obeying God’s commands. Throughout the book of Judges, the same cycle repeats itself: the Israelites disobeyed God, God sent a nation to oppress them, the Israelites cried out to God, and God heard their cry and had compassion on them. Judges 21:25 sums up the book by saying, “In those days, Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.” It was not a pretty sight!

Neither is it a pretty sight when we do as we see fit rather than what God commands. Our prayer time in Judges will reveal to us more of God’s character but will focus mostly on things that we want to pray against:

-Forsaking God
-Forgetting God
-Turning away from obeying God’s commands
-Doing what is evil in God’s sight

Of course, it is never our intention to forsake our God or forget what He has done, so let’s be proactive in praying these heavy scriptures. Join us for a three-day journey through Judges, and ask a friend to pray with you!
