Pray Matthew 5:21-39

Take a moment to pray these scriptures over someone today. You may want to READ or LISTEN to the chapter before you begin.

Matthew 5:21     Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment.” Lord, may ______ be one who does not hold on to his/her anger toward others.

Matthew 5:27     Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” May ______ choose not to look at another man/woman lustfully.

Matthew 5:37      May ______ let his/her “yes” be “yes” and his/her “no” be “no.” May ______ not be one who swears by things, but a person who keeps his/her word.

Matthew 5:39     Jesus said, “You have heard that is was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” Lord, show ______ what it looks like to turn the other cheek and help him/her to be obedient in doing this.

QUESTION: Which of these commands from Jesus do you need to work on most today?
