The following prayers are taken from 1 Timothy 3:1-13, which the NIV lists as “Instructions for Overseers and Deacons.” We encourage you to take time to pray these scriptures over your church leaders as well as other believers the Lord leads you to pray for.   You may want to READ or LISTEN to the chapter before you begin.

1 Timothy 3:8   May ______ be a man who is worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain.

1 Timothy 3:9     May ______ keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience.

(A prayer for the wife of a church leader)
1 Timothy 3:11     May ______ be a woman who is worthy of respect, not a malicious talker, but who is temperate and trustworthy in everything.

1 Timothy 3:12     May ______ be the husband of one wife and manage his children and his household well.
